Plate "Series Mosaics"
With the Mosaike series, the Linzer Glasmanufaktur has created a new design line that interacts both with the reduced contemporary architecture of the 21st century and with the classic living atmosphere.
The technique used is glass fusing, in which pieces of glass are fused together in two firing passages in a fusing furnace at approx. 820 C.
In a further firing process, the flat molten objects are brought to their final shape over a model.
What is glass fusing and how are the works of art created?
Glasfusing is a well-known glass processing method. In the warm glass technique "Fusing", "cold pieces of glass" are first used, which are then melted and formed in the oven at approx. 800 - 900 degrees, connections within the material are thus created.
Mechanical abrasion of the glass surface, making it opaque. Sandblasting can be carried out over the entire surface or partially.
